A lot of people ask me for hints and tips on making these ships. I really cannot give any save to say "practice, practice practice". I have been scratchbuilding since 1972. That's a lot of years, so if your first works are not up to what you had hoped, don't get discouraged... neither did mine. I've made everything from biplanes, jets, cars, trucks, warships from all ages of history in practically every scale, tanks, dinosaurs and buildings out of balsa, so starships come easy to me.
